We finished shooting the first part of our documentary film ZONA NORTE (working title). The film is a follow-up on our 2001 documentary WARRIOR OF LIGHT. Here we portrayed human rights activist Yvonne Bezerra de Mello and her work with the streetkids of Rio as well as the early years of her “Projeto Uerê” in the favela of Maré in the North of the city.
Now, almost 14 years later we’re documenting the changes within the project and reflect on the major changes in the conditions of living for the inhabitants of Rio, influenced by the mega sports events: the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in the summer of 2016.
We’re planning to shoot the second part in early 2015 after we’ve been through with edting the first part later this year. With Cinematographer Bernd Meiners, editor Margot Neubert-Maric, ADs: Ludmila Curi and Debora Guimaraes and sound by Tatiana Coelho.
